In memory of our friend, Bill.

Posted by Des on the forum - "It is with great sadness that I must tell you that Bill Gibson died this morning, Monday 26th. Bill was the father of Jason who all forum members will know and was a dear friend to all who travelled to Holland over the past few years or attended UK events. Bill has been immortalised on the forum where he is pictured on the link for the events section in a photograph that was taken from my car on the first of the Holland trips (it took some time to get the smile off his face). He is also in the photo for the forum where he is still smiling some time later as he supervises me trying to fix my head gasket in the car park of the hotel in Holland. He did warn everyone pre-trip to tigten up the head.

Bill loved Spiders and dedicated his time to helping people to keep them on the road. His engine rebuild on my car made the bay look better than it has since it left the factory. I have been inactive of late but recently worked to get my car back on the road, my big regret was not making Holland this year and getting to spend more time with Bill (and the rest of those who went).

I went to see Bill in Hospital at the weekend and even though he was too weak to talk, I think he was happy to know that my car was about to go back on the road. He had told Jason some time ago to make sure I had the car back for the funeral! I started the car today for the first time in 12 months and when I texted Jason so he could tell Bill, I found out that Bill had departed this world for a world where hopefully Spiders require less work, the beer is cold and the cigarettes are rolled for you by beautiful angels. As I said to Jason, Bill was looking down at an unused Spider and obviously gave me the kick up the arse to get the car going again today".
