FERRY DETAILS

OK, for those of us going on the Harwich - Hook van Holland ferry.
We are sailing on the overnight ferry late on the Thursday night 23:30 and returning on the mid afternoon fast ferry on the Monday 16:00.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to book your own ferry crossing
the cost includes an early booking discount, this only applies up to 90 days before the crossing.
SO BOOK SOON, you have been warned Smile

Please can you let either Ben or myself know when you have booked

STENALINE BOOKINGS

these are the following details you will need to enter.

Outward Journey
Harwich-Hoek v. Holland
Date: 23/06/05
Departure time: 23:30
Arrival time: 07:30
Ship Stena Hollandica
Number of adults 2
Vehicle: Car under 6m long/2m high
Number of upgrades : 1
Double inside cabin

Homeward journey
Hoek v. Holland-Harwich
Date: 27/06/05
Departure time: 16:00
Arrival time: 18:50
Ship Stena Discovery HSS
Number of adults 2
Vehicle: Car under 6m long/2m high

Total price: £ 235 (cheaper price for those on their own £200)
This includes 2 x evening meals and 2 x breakfasts and a double inside cabin.
Cabins are compulsory on overnight crossings but do include the meals Smile
it works out about the same cost as the overnight stay at Harwich if getting a morning ferry. The big advantage is we'll be in Holland in the early morning rather than late afternoon.

We're booked. Just a word of warning - I thought I'd found exactly the same crossing for £143 or so through ferrysavers.com but right at the end of the booking process it said the price had changed and with a couple of extra charges it came out a few quid more than through Stena direct.

Just before I was going to book the ferry...along came DVT number 2 Shocked
That means no flying for 6 months & very limited Spider driving Crying or Very sad which in turn means Hollands off my agenda for this year & I also now can't go to San Francisco in July!

Hello dear Spiderfriends,

Now that I know that there is more attention and care from the Dutch 124 Spider Register for your journey and arrival to our country this year, I thought it was appropriate to tighten my belt on your forum (and be a bit less pushy than last year) about this coming event.

NEVERTHELESS I WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME YOU ALL WARMLY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY TO THIS SPECIAL JUBILEE EVENT AND LOOK FORWARD TO MEET YOU ALL AGAIN IN JUNE.

Let me know if there is anything else I could do or arrange for you meanwhile (noooooo, not that...... hehehehe).

Ciao, till soon.

After my nooooooo, not that.....(above) I thought with a big grin about a nice passage written by Lewis Caroll (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) in his book 'Through the Looking Glass' in the chapter 'Tweedledum and Tweedledee':

'I know what you're thinking about,' said Tweedledum; 'but it isn't so, nohow.'
'Contrariwise,' continued Tweedledee, 'if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic.'
Mr. Green

Hi Tony

Thanks for your offer of help again - I'm sure we still owe you some more beers from last year!

There is just one thing - is there any chance of a special dispensation allowing us UK lot to pay the Dutch Register on the day rather than in advance?

Oh and one other thing, do you know the name of the hotel where the dinner and disco will be?

Hi fellow Spideristi,

I came accross a topic on the Dutch Spider site www.spidersweb.nl forums that you Brits were gonna visit our big Spider Register Anniversary meeting this year.. I just wanted to say that's very cool (and so is your website btw!), and I hope to meet you guys (& girls) and your Spiders there..

Cheers and happy cruisin! Cool

P.s. uploading my avatar fails everytime, anyone?

Hi Menno - welcome to the forum. Look forward to seeing you in June.

If you're having problems uploading your avatar, please feel free to email it to me and I'll see if I can put it for you. I think there's probably a bug in the software somewhere or it might have been when I changed the permissions a little while ago when we were getting hit by a script posting unwanted messages.

Thxs branda, I've sent the e-mail with my avatar to postmaster@sportspider.co.uk..

I think that I've seen some of you already.. I just checked your photogallery and saw the pics from a Dutch meeting in 2003 I attended aswell.. I do remember some English Spiders being there, and it being a very hot day.. Lets hope we get the same brilliant weather in June.. Cool

I spoke to one of the two organizers this evening and he informed me that paying on the day is no problem at all for you special UK lot.

Yes, I know that too. Both days will be held on the grounds and complex of Papendal near Arnhem. More details about the beautiful area, hotel and location you find HERE
